Sample Itinerary for Italy – An Educational Group Tour For Students

We love visiting Europe, and Italy in particular.  It’s treat for all the senses, and the history of the country completely engages the mind. This is a favorite itinerary of our clients, but it’s just a sampling of what we offer. We can work with you and your group to customize the ideal itinerary to Italy or anywhere. Day 1 Transatlantic flight to Florence, Italy. Greeted at the airport by a bilingual FF Travel representative and transfer to your hotel. This afternoon a walk around the city before dinner.

Day 2 After breakfast a guided tour of Florence, including Santa Maria del Fiore Duomo and Brunelleschi’s Dome. Then to see David in the Galleria della Accademia for a guided tour before lunch. Dinner on your own and evening in Florence.

Day 3  After breakfast enjoy Florence, maybe a visit of the Uffizi. Departure from Florence to Rome. En route a quick stop for lunch. Continue on to Rome, time permitting, on arrival, a visit of either S. Maria Maggiore or S. Maria in Trastevere, before dinner.

Day 4 Rise early for breakfast before the group’s departure for a guided tour of the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel. The other Vatican Museums include the Stanze di Raffaello, the Gallery of Maps, the Pinacoteca and the Treasury. We will visit as many as time permits. Then walk across the street to view St. Peter’s Basilica, including the Cupola. Afternoon walking around Rome, you may wish to visit the Villa Farnesina and then enjoy the Trastevere area before dinner on your own.

Day 5  This morning a visit of Rome, begin with a guided tour of the Colosseo, then a walk through the Forum Romanum, the Arch of Constantine. Continue on to the Capitoline Hill, and then visit the Capitoline Museum*, located in this area. Here you will see “Dying Gaul”, “Discobolus”, “Capitoline Wolf Suckling Romulus and Remus”, as well as the equestrian statue of “Marcus Aurelius”. After lunch, climb the Spanish Steps, and visit the Trinita dei Monti at the top of the steps. If you choose, spend some time walking the via del Conso and the Piazza del Popolo, checking out the shops, and windows. Return to the hotel with time to pack, for tomorrow’s departure and then dinner, on your own.

Day 6  Early morning departure from Rome for Pompeii, destroyed by lava streaming down the side of Vesuvius to bury the city. Time and weather permitting* a hike on the Mount Vesuvius**. Continue on to Sorrento for the evening with dinner on your own.

Day 7 After breakfast you will leave for the Amalfi coast. Begin the visit with Ravello then those who wish may make the short hike down to Amalfi, the others may go by bus. Return to Sorrento for dinner, on your own.

Day 8 Relaxing morning in Sorrento. Morning cooking class and time to walk around the city. After cooking class and lunch depart for Rome around 2:30. On arrival in Rome, check into the hotel, walk around the city before dinner on your own.

Day 9 Today enjoy the Eternal city, you may wish to visit the inside and grounds of the Pantheon as well as the Trevi Fountain. This afternoon maybe a walk through the parks of the Villa Borghese and the Villa Medici. Then you may wish to stop by the Café Greco on the Via Frattina for a pick-me-up before dinner. Overnight in Rome.

Day 10  Transfer to the airport for your return flight.
